About the role

Forward Deployed Engineers lead that redesign. You embed with our most strategic customers, learn how their money and their teams actually work, rethink the operation from first principles, and build what it runs on: the agents, the data pipelines, the integrations and the systems around them. You stay until it runs in production and the team would never go back to the old way.

This is a 100% technical role, built for AI engineers who want to work at the edge of what AI can do. You own the outcome at the customer and shape the product at the same time: what you build in the field becomes the next feature, skill or playbook, so every deployment makes the next one faster. As one of our founding FDEs, you’ll help define the strategy for Forward Deployed Engineering at Rexi: how the team works, who we hire and how it scales to thousands of customers. We expect you to operate autonomously, thrive in ambiguity and represent Rexi at the highest level in front of customers.

Responsibilities

• Own customer deployments end to end, from discovery and system design to production and adoption.
• Build autonomous agents that work inside and outside Rexi: agents that go find information, connect systems and take on real work across a customer’s operation.
• Build the internal platforms and tools that let our team scale lean, so every deployment takes less effort than the last.
• Build self-service products so customers can onboard and integrate on their own.
• Ship features into the core product and take part in the product discussions that decide what we build next.
• Help customers redesign how their teams work, with people and agents running together.
• Use AI in everything you do, every day, and keep pushing what it can do for us and for our customers.

You may be a good fit if you

• Are deeply curious about AI and live on the edge of it. In the interview, we want to hear everything you know about AI, how it shows up in your day to day, and how it has already transformed the way you work.
• Are a strong engineer: Python and SQL, comfortable across backend, data and integrations, and you ship production-grade code.
• Have built real things with LLMs and agents (prompting, tool use, evals) and can explain why an agent failed and what you’d change.
• Have excellent practices building with AI coding tools like Claude Code: CLAUDE.md, skills, subagents and MCP, with security, infrastructure and scalability built in from the start.
• Solve problems fast. You find the root of a messy problem and get to a working answer quickly.
• Have great soft skills: you read a room, understand how a team really works, and know how to apply AI so people actually adopt it.
• Have high agency: you own the outcome in ambiguous environments without waiting to be told what to do.

Strong candidates may also have

• Experience on integrations teams. This counts a lot.
• Experience at fintechs, banks, marketplaces or insurance companies.
• Worked as a forward deployed, solutions or implementation engineer.
• Been a technical founder. We’d love to talk.

Logistics

Remote, anywhere. Full-time. Occasional travel to customer sites.
